Delete your account

If you still have the app

Open Asiko and go to Settings → Your data → Delete account & data. The app offers you an export of everything first, as JSON or CSV. Deletion takes effect straight away and cannot be undone.

If you no longer have the app

Email hello@getasiko.com from the address you used to back up your transfer record, with the subject Delete my account. We will delete the account and confirm by reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm from that same address first, so that nobody can delete an account that is not theirs.

If you never backed anything up

Without a backup your account is anonymous. It holds no email, name or phone number, so we have no way to tell which account is yours, and nothing that identifies you. Anonymous accounts are removed automatically once the app has not been opened for 6 months, unless they have rate alerts or can still receive our news notifications. Accounts with rate alerts are kept, even after the app is deleted. To remove yours, use Delete account & data in the app before you delete the app. Deleting the app from your phone removes the transfer record stored on it.

What is deleted

• Your email address.
• Your backed-up transfer record: entries, rates, notes and the categories you created.
• Your rate alerts and their history.
• Your settings: base currency, the currencies you follow and your typical send amount.
• Your devices, and the push tokens used to send them notifications.

What is kept, and why

• Usage analytics and error reports. These are tied to a random identifier, never to your name or email, and never include your transfer amounts or notes. Once your account is deleted, that identifier no longer points to anyone, so they cannot be connected back to you.
• Historical exchange rates. This is market data about the naira. It is identical for every user and belongs to no one.
